3 Generations in the Nursery Business

In the spring of 1988 COLORADO TREE FARM began a retail branch of our wholesale nursery (founded 1977) at Chapel Hills Mall.  We belatedly discovered that in this area we could operate only seasonally under a temporary use business permit.  Until the 1999 season we called the retail branch of our business Chapel Hills Nursery. Since then both wholesale and retail nurseries use the name COLORADO TREE FARM NURSERY.  Due to my health, we will concentrate all of our focus at the new Woodmen Road Location for both the Nursery, and for Christmas Trees (Thanksgiving Weekend).  The Woodmen Road location (just east of Powers Blvd) will operate year round with nursery stock, planting materials, and seasonal goods such as Christmas trees.  The very best of lawn and garden tools and lawn furniture will also be on hand—fully tested!
COLORADO TREE FARM NURSERY is a family owned and operated business.  Dad and Mom minded the retail store in the early years.  My oldest son, Levi, graduated from Colorado College in May 2002 and assumed full time management of the retail business.  His younger brothers, Matt and Joel, have been great help.  Matt finished his undergrad studies at Colorado State, and will be attending Law School at the University of Kansas this fall.  Joel has taken on a full time roll, and is a key asset all year long.  Daughter Katie keeps us all in line when she can, but her nursing career takes most of her time now. They have  all helped in growing and handling nursery stock since they were toddlers, so they are a great help.  In the future we plan to expand our retail business without losing our family touch, so we are looking for “family like” outside help. If you are interested in being “adopted”, talk to us.
